Makeup is an art and like all art-related careers, keeping clients happy is an important part of the job and while it may not be easy, you have to try your best to do so in order to turn your clients into regular ones. Here are a few tips to help you retain your clients:

#1 – Give your customers royal treatment and make them feel like they matter more than anything else to you.

Everybody loves the royal treatment, EVERYBODY! Therefore, when you give your customers royal treatment, they are more likely to come back to you and they are more likely to refer other people to you. So, how do you make your customers feel like they are on top of their world? It’s actually pretty simple. Make sure they’re comfortable the whole time and attend to their needs. This includes serving them hot coffee in the cold weather or cold coffee in the hot weather, asking them repeatedly whether or not they feel comfortable, and when you are done adorning their faces with makeup, asking them whether or not you need to make any changes to the makeup you’ve put on.

#2 – NEVER make customers wait!

They hate it. They feel worthless when they are made to wait. Even if you are the most high-end salon in your neighborhood with the best reputation, making customers wait for too long will take them away from you. Their time is precious, just like yours and you need to convey it to them that you are well aware of this. Do not book more people than you can accommodate in a single day and do not ask them to come hours before their appointment. Even if you do have to make them wait for a short period, make sure you keep them comfortable with tea or any other refreshments.

#3 – Gain their trust by listening to them.

We’ve all been to a makeup artist who puts on something we’ve specifically asked them not to. How to Keep Your Client’s Piercing Infection-Free

When a client comes to you for a piercing, they trust you to puncture a hole into their skin. Therefore, it is important that you do it while following all the safety guidelines and precautions in order to avoid the piercing from being infected by bacteria or viruses.

Piercing involves cutting the skin and exposing the internal blood vessels and mucous membranes to infectious agents from the outside. Therefore, it is very important to take all the necessary hygienic steps in order to keep your client’s body safe. This way, they will trust you and keep coming back to you.

Here are a few tips and precautions to follow while piercing any part of your client’s body:

All surfaces in the piercing premises must be cleaned after each client is done with their piercing by an enzymatic detergent or any other suitable liquid that disinfects and wipes away bacteria and viruses. This prevents infections of one client from spreading to another
Cleaning of the equipment: This removes all physical impurities from the equipment that can be seen with the naked eye. Cleaning is done by washing the equipment with detergent and water and making sure all parts of the equipment are exposed to the detergent.
Let the equipment dry.
Disinfection.
Sterilization and storage. Items should be sterilized in a suitable machine that kills all microorganisms. The most suitable method of sterilization is to use a steam sterilizer.
Wear disposable gloves when handling sharps and other equipment.
Dispose of the gloves after use on each client.
Make sure you wash your hands with soap in between the piercings. Adequate soap should be available from a soap dispenser and a suitable sink should also be available.
To prevent infections from being transmitted to your client, you also need to make sure you don’t get infected as protecting yourself can allow you to break the chain of infection. Therefore, if you have any cuts or open wounds, especially on your hands, cover them with cotton gauze and band-aid so that the surfaces are not exposed anymore and your risk of contracting an infection decreases.

Make sure that whenever you are giving your client a piercing, you follow the above guidelines and precautions very carefully. Furthermore, ask the client to keep cleaning the site of the piercing with a suitable soap or wash that does not cause allergies for a few days after the piercing. This will help prevent the growth of bacteria or viruses around the piercing and reduce the chances of an infection.
